The RGCR has a Foundation Program followed by an Advanced Program. Each Program takes around 1800 tuition hours to complete.
Subjects and Modules
The subjects within each Program consist of modules, e.g. the subject “Drawing 1” has the modules Bargue Drawing and Cast Drawing as its modules.
Prerequisite and concurrent subjects
- The RGCR Foundation Program is the prerequisite for the RGCR Advanced Program.
- Drawing 1 is the prerequisite for all subjects.
- A student intending to focus on painting only, may move from Drawing 1 to Painting Foundation.
- Anatomy 1 is a prerequisite or concurrent subject for Figure Drawing, Figure Painting, Portrait Drawing, and Portrait Painting.
- A student graduating from the RGCR Foundation Program must complete all subjects in the Foundation Program.
- A student graduating from the RGCR Atelier Program must complete
- all subjects in the Foundation Program
- plus 1800 hours tuition in specialisation(s) from the Advanced Program
RGCR Advanced Program
Graduates of the Foundation Program may enter the Advanced Program. The Advanced Program is for students who want to improve the quality, depth, and scope of their work. The aim is to mentor students in the emergence of their individual voice by facilitating more personalised projects within the range of Subjects offered and improve the quality of the work they produce.
- Graduates of the Foundation Program may study subjects in the Advanced Program as specialisations on a part time basis.
- Advanced Program subject availability will depend on studio space.
- A student graduating from the full RGCR Atelier Program (Foundation + Advanced Program) must complete:
- all subjects in the Foundation Program
- plus, minimum 1800 hours tuition in specialisation(s) from the Advanced Program OR completion of all Advanced Program Subjects
