Date: Vary throughout the year – look on the news section for upcoming Sunday Studios

Time: 10am – 5pm

Long pose

  • 1 life model for 7 weeks
  • 1 pose, 6 hours per day, same pose for 7 consecutive weeks = 42 hours total

  • teaching: In Open Life Studio Rob Gutteridge teaches by demonstration in the morning 10am – 1pm, and gives individual attention and teaching to students at their easel in the afternoon 2pm – 5pm
  • during the demonstration students may observe Rob Gutteridge working, ask questions, or draw, or paint from the model
  • in Open Life Studio students undertake self-directed study from the model. This is unlike the RGCR teaching program, where students work within a structured curriculum.
  • students may follow the processes and techniques demonstrated by Rob Gutteridge or use their own
  • Open Life Studio suits those with some experience. It is not suitable for beginners.
  • minimum number of participants 4, maximum 10

  • drawing and/or painting materials are chosen by each student as work is self directed
  • non-toxic odourless solvent only, if using oil paints
  • RGCR uses French box easels; the maximum height canvas/drawing board size they take is 84cm; RGCR is interested in highly focused work rather than large work

  • easels
  • drawing boards
  • tea and coffee
  • microwave
  • fridge
